Dance by the sea in Italy

Dive into a sea of emotions at Mediterraneo Dance Festival!

If stimulating your senses boosts your creativity, this dance event is for you... For 25 years, this workshop has brought together dancers from all over Italy, Europe (France, Spain, Greece, Malta, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia), as well as outside Europe (USA, Australia, Argentina, Israel, China, Japan, Russia and Ukraine...)

This year's event is divided in 2 parts called "Labs", and will take place in Reggio Calabria from July 12th to 28th. Each Lab has a custom program. The first one is a little more Hip Hop/commercial dance oriented with famous choreographers such as Megan Lawson from LA, Lukas McFarlane from London, or Julia Spiesser from Paris and if you want to try something new, you'll even be able to learn aerial dance... The second one is designed to please contemporary/modern dancers with choreographic workshops led by dancers from Nederlands Dans Theater for example.

Each lab includes 6 full days of classes and culminates into a final gala held at the gorgeous and impressive amphitheater Arena dello Stretto on the sea promenade of Reggio Calabria (waterfront) with the picturesque scenery of Sicily island and Etna volcano. The students will perform the choreography they learnt during the week from their teachers and share the stage with international artists.

To be really honest, I'd sign up for this workshop anytime just to get to dance on that stage, facing the sea, feeling the italian sun on my body... (Let alone the delicious Italian food!)

And if you want to relax between or after your classes, you can enjoy the beautiful beach as all participants (students and auditors) get free entrance to the local beach (Lido Mahè) with free use of umbrellas and sun beds and a 10% discount at the bar and restaurant, as well as free access to the live music evenings and beach parties.
